What is Brand Standards?
Documented rules for logo usage, colors, fonts, photography, and tone that keep marketing consistent across properties.
Brand standards — sometimes called brand guidelines or a style guide — define how an apartment portfolio presents itself visually and verbally. They typically specify logo placement, primary and secondary colors, approved fonts, photography style, tone of voice, and templates for common marketing formats.
In multifamily, brand standards matter because dozens of people across properties may create marketing materials. Without clear rules, social posts drift off-brand, concessions look different on every ILS, and new team members guess at colors and layouts. Strong brand standards reduce rework and protect the premium feel of the portfolio.
The challenge is enforcement: a PDF style guide alone does not stop off-brand Canva posts. Modern teams embed brand standards into their design tools so colors, logos, and fonts apply automatically — turning guidelines from a reference document into a daily workflow.
